The Tortoise and the Hare: A Lesson in Patience
Once upon a time, in a lush green forest, there lived a speedy Hare and a slow but steady Tortoise. The Hare was very proud of his speed and often made fun of the Tortoise for being so slow. One sunny day, the Hare challenged the Tortoise to a race.
“Are you sure you want to race me?” scoffed the Hare. “I’ll win easily!”
The Tortoise, calm and confident, replied, “Let’s have the race and see who wins.”
All the animals in the forest gathered to watch. They set a starting line, and at the shout of “Go!” the Hare zipped ahead, leaving the Tortoise far behind. The Hare was so confident that he decided to take a nap under a shady tree, thinking he had plenty of time to win.
Meanwhile, the Tortoise kept moving along slowly but steadily. He passed the sleeping Hare and continued on his journey without stopping.
When the Hare finally woke up, he looked around and realized the Tortoise was near the finish line. Panicking, he dashed towards the finish, but it was too late. The Tortoise crossed the finish line just as the Hare arrived!
All the forest animals cheered for the Tortoise. The Hare learned a valuable lesson that day: “Slow and steady wins the race.” He realized that overconfidence can make you lose, while patience and perseverance can lead to success.
Moral of the story: It’s not always the fastest who wins, but those who are steady and determined can achieve their goals.
