In a faraway village nestled between towering mountains, there was a small river that sparkled under the sun. The river was filled with smooth, colorful pebbles, each one glimmering like a tiny treasure. One day, a curious little boy named Arav went down to the riverbank to play.
As he skipped along, Arav noticed something strange — a golden pebble glowed brightly among the other pebbles. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before. He picked it up, feeling its warmth, and smiled to himself. "This must be a magical pebble," he thought. "I could sell it and become rich!"
But as Arav was about to leave, he saw a woman struggling with a large basket of firewood. She was tired, and the heavy basket was making it difficult for her to walk. Arav hesitated. He could help her, or he could run back home with the golden pebble.
After a moment of thought, Arav walked up to the woman. “Can I help you with that basket?” he asked kindly.
The woman smiled, grateful for his help. Together, they carried the heavy basket to her home. “Thank you, young boy,” she said. “Your kindness will always be remembered.”
Arav smiled, feeling happy he had made a difference. As he walked back to the river, he noticed the golden pebble still resting in his pocket. But something was different now. It no longer seemed so precious.
The next day, as Arav returned to the river, he saw the same woman sitting by the water, looking sad. “What’s wrong?” Arav asked.
“My house was flooded in the storm last night,” the woman replied, “and I’ve lost all my belongings.”
Arav thought for a moment. He took the golden pebble from his pocket and handed it to her. “This is for you,” he said. “It’s not much, but it’s something that might help.”
The woman’s eyes sparkled with gratitude. “This pebble is more than gold to me. It’s a symbol of your kindness, and that is worth more than anything.”
Arav smiled, realizing that the true value of the golden pebble wasn’t in what he could gain from it, but in what he could give.
Moral: True wealth comes not from what we keep, but from what we give to others. Generosity and kindness are the treasures that last forever.
